Theater Bartlesville

Two dedicated ladies, Marilyn Johnson and Lori Ahlert, coordinated “The Home Dinner Theater” for 15 years as a fundraiser for the theater. They have gracefully and officially retired. However, the successful dinner theater will be continued in a another form. The dinners and the 1-Act Plays will be in the Theater starting in July of 2009. The restaurant next door, Bogarts, will be catering the affair. The Dinner Theater will be July 9th & 10th. I think that would make for a great evening out for a great price! And you will be supporting an important activity that enriches the community.

Copper On The Lawn

The Price Tower Arts Center invites you to come enjoy Copper On The Lawn on April 16th, 2009. This series of events started in 2008 and was haled with a great response from the community. This current event showcases the band, The Fabulous Midlife Crisis. Bring your family, friends, blankets and/or lawn chairs to enjoy a bit of music and culture on a Spring evening on the lawn; people start gathering at 6:00pm. The band will play from 7:00pm through 9:30pm. A cash bar will be available for soda and drinks (21 and over and have a ID!)

The current exhibit, Fallingwater en Perspectiva, has graciously been opened that night for FREE by the Price Tower Arts Center. The artist, Felix de la Concha, brings Frank LLoyd Wright’s House on the Waterfall to you by the seasons in his exquisite paintings.

I plan on enjoying this night of culture and art, so I invite you to come out and join me on the lawn.

Robert Indiana 66 Art

66 Sculpture

66 Sculpture

This sculpture was sculpted by Robert Indiana, an artist inspired by his childhood memories of Phillips 66 gas stations and it’s red and green logo against the midwestern blue sky. Therefore, his chosen colors for much of his art are red, green and blue. This photo was taken from the north side, thus a different view. The sculpture is placed on a grass lawn directly south of the Price Tower. This link shows a wonderful picture taken at night showing the lights on in the Price Tower behind the sculpture.

Hello world!

Welcome to the Cities of Legends! Bartlesville and Dewey are linked by a rich history in the settling of Indian Territory in Oklahoma by settlers who would become legends. Although linked by history, each city has it’s own unique places, people, events and businesses which we will tell their story.

We hope the City of Legends will be a place that each generation can find entries that speak to their heart or find the information they seek or express their views or just visit for a laugh. Some of our plans include guest authors, avenues for unique business advertising, restuarant reviews, music scene posts and so much more.  If you want to submit information, a suggestion or write a post, just leave your contact info in our comments (all comments are not published until approved, therefore, your info will be private).

With that said, please mark this site as a favorite of yours and come visit the City of Legends often.
